Support and Solidarity in Response to Recent Executive Orders
Dear YW Boston Community,
As many of you may be aware, recent Executive Orders issued by the Trump administration have raised significant concerns, particularly around gender identity and trans rights, immigration, and efforts to dismantle diversity, equity, and inclusion work. We understand that the cumulative impact of these orders is both painful and frightening for many, especially for those directly affected or impacted through friends, family, and colleagues.
At YW Boston, we are steadfast in our belief that every individual—regardless of gender identity—deserves dignity, respect, and affirmation. Our work, our values, and our commitment to building a more inclusive society for all reflect this dedication to recognizing the humanity of people of all gender identities.
The Executive Orders on immigration have also created a climate of fear and uncertainty, especially for immigrants already living in the United States and those holding non-citizen status. We understand the very real fear and distress being experienced by individuals directly impacted, as well as their families, friends, and communities. These anxieties affect not only immigrants but also those who, because of their identity, may be vulnerable to increased scrutiny or discrimination.
Finally, we are closely monitoring the Order targeting diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives. While these actions pose challenges, we are taking steps to identify ways we can mitigate the impact of these orders and future legislation, so institutions and organizations can continue advancing initiatives that promote inclusive, supportive work environments where everyone feels like they belong. We remain fully committed to advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion, both within our own organization and in Boston, regardless of these obstacles.
YW Boston is prepared to support you. In the coming weeks, we’ll be offering resources and webinars designed to help organizations navigate these difficult times.
Together, we will continue to stand strong and work for justice.
With solidarity and support,
Kathryn Henderson
