Jackie Jenkins-Scott, AWA ’04

Day six of our 20-day series looking back at two decades of the Academy of Women Achievers! Today’s featured alumna is Jackie Jenkins-Scott, President of Wheelock College.

After nearly 20 years as President and CEO of Dimock Community Health Center in Roxbury, Jackie Jenkins-Scott AWA ’04 became President of Wheelock College in 2004. Under her leadership, Wheelock has nearly doubled undergraduate on-campus enrollment, built a new state-of-the-art Campus Center and Resident Hall, and expanded its international reach.

Late last year, Jackie traveled to Burundi to participate in a Community Health Forum hosted by visionary community health leader Deogratias Niyizonkiza. “While the facilities are modest,” she wrote, “there is an incredible sense of respect and appreciation for every human being often not found in our modern high tech healthcare facilities.”
