In October 2014, YW Boston led a group of parents, caregivers, and staff of Boston Children’s Chorus (BCCC) in a five week dialogue series to explore race, racism, and how their children/students are often leading the way through these difficult conversations. Boston Children’s Chorus, with its mission to expose Boston area youth to musical excellence, strives not only for vocal harmony but social harmony as well. Taking part in YW Boston’s Community Dialogues on Race & Ethnicity allowed parents, caregivers, and staff to parallel the conversations that BCC students are engaged in. We look forward to round two with BCC, leading another group of parents in similar conversations.
