Alona Abalos
Alona is a Vice President for the Executive Office at Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts. In that role, she oversees the day-to-day operations of the Office of the CEO, manages the activities of the Company’s Board of Directors, and provides support and strategic counsel to the CEO and other senior leaders.
Alona first joined Blue Cross in 2000, initially as a member of the government affairs team before serving as the Chief of Staff for the Corporate Affairs Division. In 2009, she took a brief hiatus from Blue Cross to serve as the Director of Operations at the Edward M. Kennedy Institute, the nonprofit organization established by Senator Kennedy for the purpose of educating the public about government through the history and lens of the U.S. Senate. She returned to Blue Cross in her current role in 2011. Prior to initially joining Blue Cross, Alona served as General Counsel and Chief Policy Advisor to the Massachusetts Senate Minority Leader.
Alona graduated with honors from Boston University’s College of Arts and Sciences, holds a law degree from Boston University School of Law, and received her M.B.A. from Babson College.
