F.Y.R.E. Initiative Senior Program Manager
Jay Boss (they/them) is the Senior Program Manager for the F.Y.R.E Initiative at YW Boston, where they empower middle school girls of color and gender-expansive youth through leadership development and social justice education. With a focus on positive self-identity, social-emotional growth, and civic engagement, Jay fosters transformative learning experiences rooted in dialogue and action.
Previously, Jay served as the Program Director for Girls Inc. in Fort Worth, Texas, leading initiatives within middle and high schools in collaboration with Fort Worth ISD’s Equity & Excellence Division. Their work emphasized social-emotional learning (SEL), advocacy, and ending the pushout of Black girls from schools, aligning with Girls Inc.’s mission to inspire all girls to be strong, smart, and bold.
Jay also held an Education & Outreach role with GLSEN Washington State through AmeriCorps. At GLSEN, they worked to create safe and affirming schools for LGBTQ+ students, connecting with educators and communities to promote inclusive policies and practices that improve outcomes for queer youth.
Before their work in advocacy and outreach, Jay spent five years as a preschool teacher at La Petite Academy, nurturing foundational skills and fostering curiosity in young learners.
A lifelong advocate for equity, inclusion, and youth empowerment, Jay is passionate about creating spaces where young people can thrive as their most authentic selves.
