Barbara Louis

Organizational Learning Manager

Barbara is a results-driven professional with extensive experience in training and development, program management, and advancing diversity, equity, and belonging (DEB) initiatives. Most recently, she served as the Education Specialist and DEB Trainer at Franciscan Children’s. In this role, she coordinated hospital orientations, supported new staff onboarding, and co-facilitated DEB council meetings and events. Barbara also created a health equity training addressing disparities in healthcare outcomes. She collaborated with subject matter experts to develop curricula and training modules. She also served as a Administrator for the hospitals learning management system.

Previously, Barbara spent seven years at EMPath as a Senior Education and Career Specialist, where she managed a City of Boston block grant program. She designed and facilitated workshops, created micro-courses, and contributed to EMPath’s Learning Exchange by training external staff on the Mobility Mentoring Coaching Method, with a focus on cultural competency and coaching immigrant populations. Barbara supported organizational capacity-building through staff consultations, resource development, and targeted training initiatives.

Her work is driven by a commitment to fostering equitable learning environments, combining strategic program management with innovative curriculum development to create impactful and inclusive training programs.

Barbara holds a bachelor’s degree in English from UMass Boston. In her personal life, she loves spending time with her close-knit Haitian family. Passionate about travel, Barbara seeks out off-the-beaten-path destinations and strives to explore the world in the most ethical and sustainable ways possible.
